Day 30: Snow Day!

This picture was taken about 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon. It continued to snow until after we went to bed about 11 last night. I think we ended up with about 6 inches or so. Friday morning they were calling for us to get 1-2 inches. I think the storm surprised the forecasters...

Day 29: Pancakes are yummy!

This morning the girls and I went to breakfast at IHOP with my parents. The girls got an omelet and it came with pancakes. For most of the meal we gave them little pieces of omelet and pancake, but towards the end we let them grab what they wanted. Paige took a piece of bacon from my plate and Virginia decided she wanted a pancake. The pancake was kind of ripped in half which is why it looks funny, but Virginia really enjoyed picking it up and eating off of it.

Day 28: Virginia gets comfortable

Tonight after daycare and before dinner Virginia decided to lay down on the floor. She grabbed a sleeper from the dirty clothes bin, her bear and a baby doll blanket and laid down. Doesn't she look comfortable?!

Day 27: 19 month olds!

Today Paige and Virginia turned 19 months old. On the 27th of every month they get their picture taken together in our recliner. This will not be the "official" 19 month picture, but it's one of my favorites from the shoot. I love the look on Virginia's face as she's drinking her water. And the way you can see Paige's smiling eyes as she looks at her daddy. Virginia and Paige:

Day 26: Ashtree

I thought I knew what picture I was going to use for today's picture, but then Ashtree decided to sit on the end table under the lamp and I got this picture and just had to use it. It's not often I can get good pictures of Ashtree since she's a very anti-social cat, but this just seemed to be a perfect photo op. So here's my pretty kitty that I have had for almost 10 years. Wow.

Day 25: Sisterly love

I don't really have much to say about this picture. You can just see the love in the look that Virginia is giving Paige.

Day 24: Happy girls

We went to Mimi and Pops' (Ben's parents) house for dinner tonight. The girls had a great time playing there, and really loved sitting on the love seat. Here are Paige and Virginia happy to be on the love seat.

Day 23: Monkey in sunglasses?

Okay, so I didn't take this picture, Ben did, but it's so cute, I had to use it. We weren't taking the girls anywhere yesterday, so we dressed them in their Halloween costumes. I mean, they're basically like footless sleepers, so they're comfortable and the girls love them, so why not? Virginia found a pair of their sunglasses from last summer and was playing with them. She wanted to wear them, so we put them on her. Here she is in her monkey costume wearing her sunglasses. Paige was a penguin and looked super cute, but wasn't a big fan of the hood, whereas Virginia liked hers.

Day 22: Choo Choo!

Yesterday Paige, Virginia and I met a friend of mine from high school and her son at the mall. The little ones played in the play area for a little bit and then we went and rode the train that goes through the mall. The girls loved it, especially Paige. Paige loved it to much that she threw a fit when I made her get out of the train because our ride was over. Here are Virginia and Paige enjoying their train ride.

Day 21: Peek-a-boo Jefferson!

Paige playing peek-a-boo with Jefferson. We couldn't ask him to be any better with the girls. Such a good dog!

Day 20: Blueberries!

I have been having a heck of a time recently trying to find fruits that the girls will pick up and eat. They used to love bananas, but I would have to hold them for them and they'd take bites, but wouldn't pick them up if I put them on their tray. And I've tried many other fruits, but they just won't eat them. They apparently eat fruit at daycare, but not at home for me. So this morning while I was making blueberry pancakes for the girls, I decided to try giving them some partially thawed frozen blueberries. They gobbled them right up! I even had to get more out of the freezer for them. Here is Paige after she's finished eating her breakfast, but before I cleaned her up. She's very happy about the blueberries.

Day 19: Where's your nose?

The girls know a lot of their body parts. Some we've worked on with them, some we're not quite sure how they learned, but they know them. Their favorite ones to point out to us, though, are their noses and their belly buttons. When you ask where their nose is, they often point to your nose, or their sister's nose. As you can see in this picture- they definitely know where their sister's nose is!

Paige is in pink and Virginia is in off-white.

Day 18: Virginia behind bars

Well, not really bars, but the spindles on the back of one of our dining room chairs. The girls were having a great time this evening pushing one of our dining room table chairs around the house. They moved it from where it normally sits in the corner of the dining room into the living room right by the gate and then back to where it belongs. I decided to take the opportunity to get some pictures and settled on this one to be today's picture. I took it through the back of the chair looking at Virginia having the time of her life playing with the chair.

Day 17: Paige is sleepy

Today Paige was having a really good time playing with her baby doll in the bassinet. Apparently she got a little tired while playing with them and laid her head down on her blankets in the bassinet. She actually did this several times and later went and laid her head down on a shelf in our bookshelf- after she put her blankets in it, of course. Both girls have colds, so they were a little more tired today than normal, which is probably what led to Paige laying her head down in the bassinet.

Day 16: Paige outside

My parents came over to see us for awhile this afternoon before they went to have dinner with some friends. While they were here they wanted to take the girls out for a walk. When we left the house Paige decided to take her water cup with her. Right after she got outside she stopped and took a drink. I'm not quite sure what it is about this picture, but I just love it.

Day 15: The playground!

Today was a gorgeous day outside, so I decided that after their nap I would take the girls to the playground near our house. Ben and I also took them on their first adventure in their wagon they got for Christmas. They loved it! They thought riding in their wagon was awesome and enjoyed getting to run around the playground a little bit. As would be expected on a beautiful day in January, the playground was fairly crowded, so the girls didn't venture far. They really enjoyed climbing up on this one piece of equipment and going down the slide. Here they are at the top of the slide shortly before they both went down the slide.

Day 14: Leaning over the couch

So a few weeks, maybe a month, ago, the girls learned how to climb up on the couches. Since then climbing up on the couch and leaning over the back to get things out of the window sill has become a favorite thing to do. I took this picture of them doing just that tonight. What's different about this picture, though, is that they're wearing their new dresses that their Mimi bought them over the clothes they were to daycare today. Mimi dropped the dresses off on her way to meet a friend for dinner and the girls were so excited about them that they wanted to put them on. So, being the nice mommy that I am, I put the dresses on them. And then they got up on the couch and reached for stuff behind it and I managed to snap this picture of them in almost the exact same position, just opposite. It's funny how twins are. I love the way they both have one foot up in the air. Such goofy little girls. Virginia is in the green dress with blue pants. Paige is in pink, as usual.

Day 13: Virginia and her spaghetti

Ben made some delicious pork chops marinara for dinner tonight (he does all the cooking) and Virginia was having a great time eating/playing with her spaghetti that we had with the pork chops. Shortly before this picture was taken she had a long piece in her mouth that was hanging out on both sides- unfortunately I didn't get the camera quick enough to get a good picture of that. But here's one where she is very, very proud of the long piece of spaghetti in her hand.

Day 12: Preview of 13 years from now...

I have a feeling that in about 13 years Virginia will be doing this same thing, except she'll have a phone to her ear or be texting with it or something.

Day 11: Snacktime with Daddy

Ben was having a snack this afternoon after he got home from work. He had the crazy idea that he could eat in the living room and not have the girls want some of his chips. Boy, was he wrong! He opened the chips and the girls flocked to him. Here are Virginia and Paige looking cute and asking their daddy for some chips.

Day 10: Me and Suzanne

Today's picture was not taken by me because I am in it! I went to a baby shower today for a friend of mine that is having twins. YAY! I'm so excited for her and her husband, they're going to have so much fun. So I decided to make today's picture a picture of her and I that we got someone to take at the shower. This is me and my friend, Suzanne, who is 30 weeks pregnant with twin boys.

Day 9: Virginia finds her foot!

Virginia has recently decided that she wants to put her clothes on by herself. Both girls have been trying with shoes and socks for awhile, but never seem to get them lined up right. Yesterday morning while I was dressing Paige, Virginia grabbed a pair of pants and was trying to get them on over her sleeper. She didn't have much luck with that, but because she was so determined I decided to let her try to get her own pants on after I got her out of her sleeper and put her shirt on her. She did really well. She managed to get one leg all the way in! Here she is when she finally managed to find her foot at the other end of her pant leg!

Day 8: Mommy and Paige

Paige was sitting on my lap on the couch when I realized I hadn't taken any pictures today. I grabbed the camera and decided to take a picture of the two of us. It turned out pretty well, if I do say so myself.

Day 7: Virginia putting her shoes on

The girls got new shoes on Monday- ones that tie so that they can't easily get them off. They love them! Last night after I'd taken their shoes off Virginia wanted to put hers back on. So she sat on the couch with her shoes (and on top of her baby doll) and tried to put them back on. She was not successful, but she definitely knows where her shoes are supposed to go!

Day 6: Paige, Virginia and my bowl picks

At work we're doing a contest to see who can get the most points on bowl games. We had to pick the winners of each of the 34 bowl games and then weigh each game. You get points equal to what weight you give each game that you pick correctly. Or something like that. Anyway, Paige and Virginia pulled my picks sheet off of the table today and were running around with it. Here Paige has it in her hand, but you can tell by Virginia's face that she wants it.FYI- the lines that are highlighted in pink are the games I've picked correctly. I think I'm doing alright, if I do say so myself- especially since I just guessed!

Day 5: Paige in awe

I think this picture makes Paige look like she's in awe of the stacking blocks and the fact that her daddy could stack them so high for her- they're almost as tall as she is! But in reality this is Paige checking out the stacking blocks right before she knocked the tower over.

Day 4: Training Starts

I decided a couple of months ago that I am going to run a 10 mile race in April- the George Washington Parkway Classic. I talked to a coworker who recently ran a half marathon and she recommended a website to me for getting a training schedule. I am doing a 16 week training program and it started today. I went out on Saturday and got some new running shoes, my first pair of Sauconys. And today when I put the girls down for their nap, I did my first training run- 2 miles. Since today marks the start of my real running training, I decided that today's picture should be my new running shoes. I have a feeling we're going to get very, very close over the next 4 months.

Day 3- Virginia is cold

It is cold out today! We're looking at a high of 28 degrees with a windchill in the teens. Yet for some reason we decided to go out to lunch. So we bundled the girls up and out we went. Here's Virginia all bundled up and in her car seat on the way to lunch.

Day 2- Virginia enjoying her yogurt

Paige and Virginia are getting better and better at eating with utensils, so I've started giving them more and more foods that require spoons to be eaten. This morning they had yogurt in their own bowls. They loved it. I love how content Virginia looks in this picture enjoying her yogurt. They may have made a bit of a mess with the yogurt, but they definitely enjoyed it.

Day 1- Ashtree

Okay, so today I heard about this idea of doing a blog with a picture a day, so I figured, why not try it?  I figured I would start a new blog for this and hopefully I'll be able to keep up with it.  It will be a mix of pictures, but will probably mainly be my twin daughters, Paige and Virginia.

I had the idea that I would take at least one picture a day in 2010, but I didn't start out very well- I forgot to take one on January 1st! So here is a picture from New Years Eve. Paige and Virginia got this couch and a Mickey Mouse on for Christmas. They're big hits with the girls, and apparently with the cat as well. Here's Ashtree on the Tinkerbell couch.
